Improving intersection safety"170th Avenue and Farmington Road location map"

The 170th Avenue and Farmington Road Intersection Safety Project includes reconfiguration of the intersection to address safety concerns created by the angles of the two roads when they meet. Crosswalks are at skewed angles across the intersection, which creates long walking distances for pedestrians. Pedestrian islands will be installed on the northeast and southwest corners of the intersection.

Other improvements include:

  • Shorter crosswalks
  • ADA-compliant ramps
  • Pedestrian crossings with push buttons
  • Upgraded traffic signal reflectors and software

The total estimated cost of the project is $900,000, funded through the County's Road Capital Fund and the Oregon Department of Transportation's (ODOT) All Roads Transportation Safety (ARTS) program.
